Thought this worth reposting even though he doesn't care! MISTER PRESIDENT, What part don't you understand When the People say, "We're tired!"? When our Troops and their Families Say, they are no longer inspired? "Stay the course.", "They'll follow us." Just doesn't ring true, anymore To, "Take the fight to the terrorists!" Is not really why, we went to War. In fact, we've made more enemies They just don't want us on their soil We have only stirred the hornet's nest And heightened the World's turmoil. It's time to face the reality "Our resolve." is not the same While we lose loved ones and friends In this political/oil/money game. You send them and extend their stay And on the news there was a story About a Hero's fifth time to go Who says, "No!I don't want to deploy!" The Troops are hurting and worn out And their morale is running low Families want their loved ones safe Just listen and they will tell you so. We went to War, "with what we had" As old Rummy was heard to say And we still don't have enough Even though, we pay, and pay, and pay. If they'd have had sufficient armor With a much better chance to survive If we'd have given them what they needed How many more, might still be alive? And if that so-called government Won't try and step up to the plate It's time we brought our own Home And let Iraq design it's own fate. Though, we should have never gone there Our Troops gave it their best shot We shouldn't expect more from them To lose more of those best, we've got. You may be, "the great decider" And used to things going your way But, that doesn't mean you're always right And most now, don't believe a thing you say. So, for once, try to do the right thing And see what is as plain as can be You must start to end this crazy War Because of your flawed and failed policy. Mister President, bring them home And have them guard our borders here Where there's a clear and present danger But, maybe too late, as some may fear. Then, you can say, "Bring them on!" And we can stop them at the border And maybe salvage something good From this War's chaos and disorder. We can't force Freedom on them We can't make any people Free If it's not something they believe in Just because it's what we want to see. An experiment in Democracy That was doomed from the very start For, those People's ancient history Shows what's in their mind and heart. 4,433 of our Best dead! http://projects.washingtonpost.com/fallen/ this is a good news site, too http://www.alternet.org/rights/77360/ Del "Abe" Jones Mankind's greatest accomplishment is not the revolution of technology, it is the evolution of creativity. EXCELLENT 'write'...but, it would be falling on stone-deaf, self-righteous, megalomaniacal ears if self-proclaimed 'Emperor Shrubbery' [George '(lost-in-the) Bush(es)' ] were to actually hear this! Applause for this 'penning!' |

I DID send it to the White House when I wrote it in 2007. If I should suddenly stop posting, look for me at Guantánamo! Del "Abe" Jones |

Abe, stand up and take a bow for another very fine ~ and powerfully written, political expose. I checked out the link and literally started crying when I looked at the faces of some of those who have recently fallen in the line of duty. This insanity has to stop. Love, Harmony, & World Peace, EA |

Abe...this country allows us all to have opinions and to express them...perhaps you are right...we should withdraw and bring everyone home...and do the battles here when the zealots come to take our freedom...I for one, will always take it to them first...and agree with George ...tear up their yard and now mine. As for those lost..yes..it is sad, it is ugly...but it is a price we pay sometimes..might be nice to review the faces of the thousands that got mashed in the twin towers too.. respectfully...but with a very different view D |

D, Might be nice too, if we treated our War Heroes and families like the 9/11 folks and pay them over 3 million dollars each for their loss. http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/defenseandsecurity/a/randon911.htm With money spent in Iraq we could have (and still could) secure our borders so our enemies couldn't get in plus a thousand other ills we could fix in this Country. AND, if we'd have finished the job in Afghanistan we started instead of diverting resources to the non threat of Iraq we wouldn't have the problems with terrorists we have now! http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/17/business/17leonhardt.html Abe http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/17/business/17leonhardt.html Del "Abe" Jones Mankind's greatest accomplishment is not the revolution of technology, it is the evolution of creativity. Nice writing...I have re sent letters to the President and Congress on anniversaries adding a postscript saying something like, "Since you didn't get the message last time, her it is again." Concerning this message, I can feel the frustration and I agree with this in its sincerity but not in its practicality. Looks like the President started the war in Iraq without considering the consequences, but now that we are there we should consider the consequences if we just pull out. The process will require more than action, it will require some careful thought, some patience and some wisdom...James |
