'Father, Mother, I'm six years old now And I've been giving a great deal of thought To my development and the things I should be taught. I've come to the conclusion that, I need some guidance, in my work and in my play, a role-model, Someone to help me on my way. I don't mean to dis' my sis', but she's a girl and She twirls around in a quite different World to mine, She's no help when I say 'Emma, I have a dilemma,' It's a bigger brother that I need A bigger brother that I pine.' And Mother said, 'I'm sorry Simon, but there's no way that can be done. Whatever the future holds for us, you'll always be the eldest son.' So I cried and a tantrum I threw ('cause when you're six and no-one listens to you, what else are you supposed to do?) 'Cause I couldn't cope with all the pressure of Being the eldest son, 'All the other families have letters addressed to messers! All the other mothers have bigger brothers for their sons!' And that was it. My bigger brother never came. and whilst I adored and continue to adore my sister, it was never quite the same. |

simon, I had similar thoughts when I was a child! You just brought it all back to me! ~ Actually, I have even had similar thoughts as an adult! I am the oldest of three and most of the responsibilities ~ and the work! ~ fell on my shoulders. I also carried more of the worries ~ but that was of my own doing. I tend to be a bit of a mother hen ~ and worry wort! ![]() I loved how you wrote this! It was amusing and at the same time it tugged at my heartstrings. Loving hug, Linda |

Simon, Complain, complain. Isn’t that the way it is. You’re lucky, you’re the boss, and you can push the others around. Great poem--I got a kick out of it. Bobby |

You were quite philosphically oriented at six, dear Simon. Enjoyed your reflections and the good mood trickling through. love Margherita |
