The Nature Of Gifts

Pledge and lines strung up in lights
Cannot match the spectral heights
Right tones tale, discard and fail
As pretty pictures pale, unto time

Fleet and fickle wishes spent
Flesh and flash as well relent
Trinkets bound of cash flow streams
Disturb and cheapen changing dreams
That one true thought itself esteems

The heart so chained may not be true
Its restless struggle will imbue
Its purpose but to carry life beats forth
As all and every being has its worth

For once engrained in mind and soul
Forever rings one bell to toll
And given over all control and cause
A gift withstanding life and even loss
This gift of love endures at best, because

I love the flow of this, TD...the rhythm occuring so naturally that it sings. Lovely and meaningful.

the rhythm is so catching i wonder if i have lost the deeper meaning of this great poem! i like:
