Rebirth Accepting New In southern states they are pruning winter off their roses encouraging them to begin with deft and gentle touch their entry into Spring. Man or woman, gardeners all, bending over the straightness of a shoot, whispering, come seeing firsthand with some exaltation of joy new reddish-green shoots of limbs that will soon reach for an azure sky under a life-giving sun. Gardeners survey their plot, perhaps the whole of the yard, perhaps a spot where a bareness lies in need of some color not seen before. I wonder what is better: the shopping trip, culminating in a find never before found, or turning over ground, preparing for a new beginning that will cause passersby to smile, in simmering days to come as the proliferation of a gardener’s love, while he bends over a bloom, taking in its scent. Even the other, older roses, seem to glow a little brighter. © KRJ 2-20-2008 |

Indeed, the gardener is in perfect heaven. As am I, warming up to the thoughts of spring. |

Beautiful Poet Rose, As roses are high up on my passion list...you really wrote to my heart! I've been working lately to get mine into shape, and plan to plant a few this weekend...I will dedicate one to you. Always, R |

Beautifully done. I can't wait for spring...thank you for bringing a piece of it to those of us in a winter's wasteland! |

Sunshine, I’m grateful to those that grow my food, and flowers growers are good. As a child I had too many bad experiences working in a garden to want one myself. You did a good job on the poem. Bobby |
