Reclamation Though the forlorn mind and heart wear yet a bleak patina... of fleeting love, cavernous loss, and deconstructed dreams, the spirit becomes a winter moon in that sweet wilderness… bright and clear, alone in time, truth and chaos, from which new hope and promise may be born. --b. e. adams (2/20/08) ~ |

Your recent poems seem to be more hopeful, Bruce. Glad to see it. Ida |

This poem moves from a darkness that one can feel as well as see to buoyant – dare I say “optimistic” – light in the second half of the work, bringing to mind Roethke’s line, “In a dark time, the eye begins to see.” When one speaks this poem, one notices the shortness of breath with which the lines are constructed, mirroring trepidation often inherent in approaching change, even positive change such as transformation from dark to light. If this work were music, it would follow the pattern of the Bach Cello Suite # 1. There it is again, Poet! It spins in the middle with the word “moon” on this eclipse evening. Completely beautiful. I am mesmerized. |
