Dear God

Oh my, Dear God you know
What’s in my heart, today
The pain that I am feeling
And that I’m not okay

I’ve cried a million tears, it seems
But still, it hurts me just the same
This heart of mine is truly torn
That this man has passed away

I can still see his smiling face
When I walked into his room
The glitter in his eyes
Could light up the entire room

My heart is hurting me so bad
That he up and passed away
You are the only one, Dear God
Who knows, I’m not okay

The pain I tried to hide today
Because for me they really cared
So for them, the tears I kept hid
As long as I was there

No one even knows how bad
I ‘m truly hurting deep inside
Or how many, many tears
I have really cried

Right now, it feels as if
The pain will never go away
And, it is my greatest fear
This pain is here to stay

Such pain never completely goes away. It's part, and parcel along side the good memories.

I am so sorry, Sweet Sue, that I missed this poem in your hour of need. As a nurse, I do understand how difficult it is to lose a patient. Thank goodness the pain does leave, otherwise, it would impinge on our ability to be able to care for those who still need us.

In the meantime, I am giving you a comforting shoulder to cry on,
