All these years, living each day begging gifts from night's freedom, drawing darkness to life without light's vengeance, gathering souls in sheaves of belief, surviving by will sun's baked eternity, leather crust seasoned with salt from dried tears, no shame feeding on fear in shadows of lust, hunting down rhythms of heart's sturdy tempo, in dry centuries learned to be without end, never civilized merely contained, clawing existence from still iron silence in endless despair, I am humbled by life. ©2008 by icebox . |

May I keep this forever in my treasure box of poetry. It's amazing. Alison ---- I was going to paste my favorite part. Each line builds upon the one before - I could not choose. This is my favorite line. ©2008 by icebox |

Wow, dear icebox, a truly impressive, powerful, significant write! I find I understand this well, especially drawing darkness to life without light's vengeance, gathering souls in sheaves of belief and the ending … I am humbled by life oh, my, you really touched my core with your reflections, dear Poet! Another grand ‘write’ from a most fine author: I am especially fond of: "All these years, living each day begging gifts from night's freedom(!)" ALSO wonderful!: “surviving by will sun's baked eternity, leather crust seasoned with salt from dried tears…” AND: “in dry centuries learned to be without end, never civilized merely contained, clawing existence from still iron silence in endless despair, I am humbled by life.” Serious applause for this ‘penning!’ |
