Those Things That You Hold Dear

When you stand
atop a mountain
observing the
beauty of the forest
and how the rain
and the sun provide
for it, you understand
that this is how the
cycle of life should be.

As you pass through
the valleys and enter
into the villages
a Country life seems
so happy and carefree.

Entering into the City
the view is not as pretty;
congestion and pollution,
greed and confusion
have displaced those things
that you hold dear.

I hope to be visiting the beauty of your world
soon enough; and hopefully, also, to leave
the grist and grit of it alone...

It's good you enjoy the wilds, someone has to.

I don't like to be out of the city.  I have to have people, and noise around me.

You've inspired me, I'll have to write a poem about it.

Come to think of it, that's what my book "Felix" is all about.  Being snatched from the city, and hating being away from the city.

You're title handles it.  Places we hold dear.
