   The Compass of Love

Gently hinged between…
the grand western sunset,
and a fine eastern moonrise…
the deep night sky
of north and south,
remain star-bound
as the compass of
my love for you…
through all the
turning years.

you paint with words, the ancients followed the stars as a compass, very crafted analogy...

I love romantic poetry that has a classic feel to it. This is beautiful with the delicate, dream like quality of true romance.

In the East, the lotus blooms at sunrise. Its strong fragrance fills the air so that by nightfall, when the flower withers, its perfume endures. It may grow faint, but it is never gone. In the weeks that pass, an insect may stop where a lotus bloomed. Its fragrance is somehow mysteriously released again.

People of the East love the lotus because it never dies. So too it is for people who are loved. By this poem and by your words, you bring your readers the smiles, sighs and dreams of life, permitting us the privilege of sitting on the river’s bank with you, visiting the echoes of your thoughts. How fortunate it is to love and be loved.

Oh, dear Bruce, this is really an outstanding "declaration" that any heart would love to melt to.

Love,
