Simon, This is an excellent "library people" poem. I've spent a lot of time there, but haven't ben there much of late. Your poem brings back memories. Bobby |

Thanx Bobby. This was written for a man called Alan who I used to let sleep on my living room floor when I lived in Wolverhampton. He used to have this on a note that he kept about his person. I hope life's improved for him now as well... |

Kind of says it all, doesn't it and it is kind of sad, huh. Alison |

Drinking and the library... odd combination. Sorry for your pain. You express it well. Ida |

Simon, this is sharp and cutting. I think that the library is a good place to stay (away from the bottle too, otherwise how could you read properly ... you would see double, wouldn't you?!). Sad outpour of your heart, but very efficient writing. love Margherita |

Thank you Alison, Marchmadness & Margherita very much for your comments (as well as Mr. Jordan earlier) As, I mentioned before, this isn't about myself, it's about a man I once knew. He went to the library because it's somewhere warm & sheltered that he wouldn't be asked to leave. All quite important when you have no-where else to go. I have no idea where he is now or wether indeed he is still alive (he was fairly elderly) but wherever he is, I hope he remembers me like I remember him. |

Simon, after reading what you wrote in your replies, I have a better understanding ~ and appreciation ~ of your poem. On first reading of it, I thought you were speaking of yourself. That poor soul was fortunate to have met such a compassionate person, such as yourself. I doubt that he could ever forget you or your kindness. Love to you, dear Samaritan! Linda |
