The Main Street of Life Give me a chance; you’ll see who I am This is no fake; I’m all for real I know you’ve made a decision, You’re wondering what to do But please think long and hard, Before you follow through So much can go wrong, As we follow our separate paths, But so much more can go right, As our journeys intertwine. It’s been only a week or two, It may be soon, I won’t deny But with my one chance, Our journeys will take flight. These paths we follow, long and winding, May take many twists and turns, Most unforeseen, But they will join, side by side A small detour had to be made, Probably for the best But in time, most detours Must come to a rest And when the detour ends, The main street is always there To persevere, to take your hand And lead you to the promised lands I’m almost done, but I must say You’re certainly beautiful today You may be wondering, “How can he know?” I just do, my dear, you’re beautiful everyday The detours over; it’s time to make a turn Down the main street, that leads straight to my heart You’ve got the roadmap; I’ll be the driver Let’s go for a journey, and see where life takes us |
