Change...
It comes sweeping in
like an invading army.
Destroying, rebuilding,
destroying again.
Shattering lives,
creating new life,
new worlds,
a new way.
Showing no mercy
for the old ways.
Joining forces with time
to show fragile humanity
a vision of heaven
or hell.

Excellent, Ida! I think it was Robert Audrey who said: "Time is the editor of nature's follies." I also say that change is time's obedient, tireless servant.

It hasn't been my dearest friend either, Kris but it seems we have no say in the matter.

Once again, dear Ida, you wrote a great piece, by rendering the feelings with regard to change so very well. I am in midst of great change right now and every evening I am so exhausted, but I am beginning to see the good side of this change. I do believe that we are always sustained from Above, to cope with whatever crosses our Path.
In surrendering to what is, there is peace.

Enjoyed your thoughts greatly. You also made me think of Shiva.

Love and hugs.
Margherita

I don't always do change well and this speaks to my fear of it.  I am a nester kind of person and I love security.  This can drive my family insane - as they seem to be more of the 'seat of their pants' kind of people.  I can adapt and I can enjoy change - but there is change that you write of, that just takes me down.

Hi Prasad,
I wrote this poem after watching the news about the tornados, floods etc. in the midwest. There has been so much destuction there lately.

Transience and change...are indeed the only 'certain certainties'...

...and, there will be increasingly devastating retribution for human(kind?!)'s
environmental sins.

applause for this 'penning!'

I so know what you mean, Ida.  It is very unsettling, especially the ones you referred to in your response.

Dear Ida, change can either kill us or make us stronger. ~ Or is that "pain"?!? ~ Same diff!!!
Well, not all the time. When things change for the better ~ but when they have been for the worse and there's nothing that I can do about it, I've have to make peace with change whether I have wanted to or not. It's like we're forced to "get with the program"! ~ the NEW program that is.

Another fine, provocative write!

Love to you!
Linda

Thank you all for your comments. I think you are all very wise. I guess I'll just have to have a "slurpee" and "get with the program."

Change is inevitable, as you so eloquently wrote, Ida... it's up
to us to make it a good transition
or not... wonderful work!

You know change is inevitable Ida,
well... except from a vending machine.

I usually fight change at first, but than I embrace it, because that's just the way I am.
It's not how many times we're knocked down by change that matters so much as it's what we do about it, after we get up.

Lovely piece my friend!
Rich
