One can always
Write some smart remarks
About ghost towns in
New Mexico

Use the ruins
In rhymes as metaphors
Act a hindsight oracle
Who could have foreseen it all

But not today

Today we’ll dwell
On gray wooden crosses
Leaned over in grasses
Yet down the trails

Those weathered sticks
Just as lost and oblivious
That say nothing to no one
Anymore

You put forth great vision with very few words. As always, well done.

John,

I think this is a good description of New Mexico.  My oldest boy used to live there.  I haven't been there for years.
