.

Summer
Morning
And the air is cool

A breeze rustles
The leaves above our heads
What else is there needed
To be said

We sit here quietly
At the end of our lives
Watching small waves
Rippling along the shore

The young squirrels
Scurrying around
In their search for food

Those days
We never
Together had

Two sparrows
Dusting themselves
Beside the road

.

There is  much heartfelt emotion and yet, resignation in this. Lovely blend of the two.

Beautiful and sad and makes one wonder what could have been.
