From where the sun in gold glow rose In times of old before long prose A horseman came, covered in dust His mount was slathered, his eyes as rust "Flee," he said. "For Darkness falls Lock your windows and bar your halls For behind me follows a fearsome sight They come in power, they come with might" "Monsters are they. They fear no man They kill without mercy, they show no plan But behind them they leave just blood and tears And before them come I in haste and fear" But the people ignored him, they paid no heed To the messenger's warning or his need And when three horsemen appeared on the hill Only the messenger saw and stood still As they charged through the village in savage joy And killed and plundered with intent to destroy 'Till the leader came upon the messenger there And he smiled "Brother! Do you want a share?" "For I have looked for you oh so long And our band without you were not so strong It's time now, Brother, to join your own You've grown too soft here, all alone" The messenger looked at the leader strong And could not explain what was so wrong For a thousand years they were brothers indeed But he'd left them to live by another creed "Kronos," said he. "A deal I'll make With our Brothers as witness, they too have a stake When the time is right, then Time will End And the Horsemen in triumph will ride again" "And I will take up my place at your side And our band across the Earth will ride All will see our approach and hear None will stand before us, all will fear" "But this vision of mine will never be Unless we bide our time and wait to see Where and when to strike, Brother, say You'll let me go now to fight another day" Then Kronos was pleased with his Brother's plan He sent Silas north to a Viking clan Caspian lurked in snows so cold While Methos slowly broke the mold Of a thousand years of murder and hate And in living, forgot about his deal and fate But Kronos was patient; he'd learned that well He could wait for Death, for he was Hell Three thousand years passed slowly by The Horsemen no longer made babies cry The man known as Death became a gentle soul Anonymous survival was his only goal Friends he found, and content was he To drink beer in the evening and merely be But his past came to haunt him one stormy night When Kronos returned to commence the fight For Kronos had devised a master plan A deadly virus from which the bravest ran He would plunge the planet in anarchy And the Horsemen would rule for eternity But Methos had changed from the man he'd been He'd learned from his life and all he had seen He could not join Kronos in his quest for blood So he warned his friend, the brooding Scot Then the Horsemen assembled at a dark wet place And MacLeod met Caspian face to face And when Methos heard that MacLeod was dead He thought for sure he'd lose his head But MacLeod survived, a conclusion forgone And he came to fight Kronos in the murky predawn Methos fought Silas, for whom he cared But heads rolled and the Quickening they shared So the world was saved from Kronos' threats And Methos left with a thousand regrets Leaving us to ponder the strange kinships Shared by the Horsemen of the Apocalypse - fin - Disclaimer: This is a work of fan-poetry based on the Highlander TV Series. Methos, MacLeod, Kronos, Caspian and Silas all belong to Rysher:Panzer/Davis, as does the story. I merely re-told two episodes in rhyme for a lark |

Thanks Ray Well, I've always felt good fanfic should be easy to follow even without knowing the show or movie. I just put in the disclaimer so that someone doesn't jump on my head about it, LOL! |

I thoroughly enjoyed what you have done here! Totally engaging! I read your disclaimer "Disclaimer: This is a work of fan-poetry based on the Highlander TV Series. Methos, MacLeod, Kronos, Caspian and Silas all belong to Rysher:Panzer/Davis, as does the story. I merely re-told two episodes in rhyme for a lark" Have you ever heard of the site FanFiction.net where writers submit their versions of, for example, TV series. You can read some of the submissions at the following http://www.fanfiction.net/tv/ EA |
