Hello everyone, another newbie throwing her attempt open to the world. (I'll duck as needed when the shoes come flying... )

Dream

My dream was thus:
A wooded glade, and moonlight streaming down
like scarves of silk, so delicate, through trees and leaves
and to the ground.
I saw a figure sleeping there,
stretched in the fragrant grass:
She wore my face
and in repose looked pale and cold and fair.
Then from the east a movement came
and from the wood it stepped:
Its mane a blowing, tail a flowing,
hooves struck sparks of forest green
as to my other self it strode
and with its golden horn aglow
gently touched her sleeping brow.
She woke at that, my other self,
with nimble poise she rose,
touched the slender graceful neck
and stroked the velvet nose.
Then she bowed with deep respect,
looked in the liquid eyes.
Like the center of a storm they were:
eternal movement caged and tamed
yet burning still with fearless will
and courage never shamed.
It then bent down, that shining soul:
allowed my other self to mount.
Its mane she gripped, it read her thought
and through the forest night they rode.
Like faerie steed and _SĂdhe_ they flew
and where they went, they only knew.

I woke this morn, the dream but wisps
the woodland glade but haze.
But through me pounds the rhythm still:
the hooves, the wind, the daze.
And on my forehead, soft but glowing
shines a mark but rarely seen:
A hoof, a horn, what is it showing,
and is it real, or just a dream?

Remember the three R's:
Respect for yourself.
Respect for others.
Responsibility for all your actions.

Thank you so much Midnitesun and Sunshine! I'm so glad you like it!

And thanks for the card, Sunshine! Very cool to find my own poem there ... how do I get my own picture linked to it?

I checked out the link you gave in one of your replies, and was blown away by your gorgeous illustration you made for this poem. You are very talented!

I also noticed your sweet, smiling face there. It would be wonderful to have it posted here at pip as well!

@Romantic Heart: Thanks so much for visiting my profile at RedBubble! I'm glad you like my pics

That comet was such a stroke of luck, it was cloudy all the time except that one evening.

Welcome, oh, welcome to PIP, you unicorn-loving, (you have to be horse-loving too), fellow-South African!

I loved your poem - was held spell-bound every step of the way.  No shoes will be thrown at you by anyone in PIP.  We are a friendly bunch.  My favourite part of your poem was the unicorn (don't let me get started on my beloved Flicka who went to Heaven 6 years ago on 28 April - the most wonderful horse in the world).  I adore my country, and it seems you do too.  What a delight to meet you!

Hi Owl, nice to meet you too!

I'm so glad you liked my poem. It just came to me one Saturday morning

Yes I love horses! Learned to ride only last year, and had to stop because of back problems, but I love them anyway. And unicorns, well, wouldn't it be just perfect to have a unicorn.

Love my country even though it sometimes drives me up the wall, lol! But I always figure that would be true anywhere in the world.

I KNEW it! - That you love horses.  Sorry you had to give up riding so soon after you started.

Yes, now is not the best time to be proudly South African after the xenophobic attacks!

Hehe, I do plan to ride again! I've got all the gear, can't let it go to waste! Some day soon

I'll be optimistic and hope our national problems straighten themselves out soon

Glad to hear that you plan to ride again!

Funny thing, now that I think of it.  When I was pregnant with my first child and I hadn't ridden for 10 days because it had rained solidly for the 10 days, I developed an excruciating backache.  When the rain stopped, I wondered whether I would be able to ride with that very severe backache.  I thought that it couldn't get any worse, so I went riding, and in less than the 5 minutes that it took to ride to the top of a hill, my backache had disappeared completely and stayed disappeared for the rest of my pregnancy.

I guess I overdid it, riding out for too long without the stamina or trained muscles. I could handle the pain, but the dead legs for days afterward were another matter.

I dreamed last night that I was riding, so it had better be soon

I hope it will be soon.  Perhaps you could email me when you do get to ride, and share the experience with me.  I love hearing about horses.  I can't remember whether I saw replies from you to Midnitesun's latest horse poems, but if you haven't seen them, maybe you would like to do a search on her poetry and read them.  Her daughter Sara is a trainer of Lippizaners - ooh, I see my skin going green with envy, just with telling you this.

I'll have a look, thank you Owl!

My trainer just moved to Mozambique so I'm out of a place to ride close by. Will have to look around a bit

Well I have to first of all welcome you - so welcome!  Secondly, I loved your poem, but I live in a mature mind of fantasy, and plan on staying there     Thirdly, I have followed your work at deviant art along with Enalya for years, and bought many of your cards, as I have also done with her.  I am delighted you have come to this site.  Now that I found your home site I can spend hours there like I did this morning viewing your art.  Art and poetry go hand in hand, and we are so glad to hold yours now here too.

p.s. I love the ecard function on your site - that is awesome - thank you.  Count me in -I registered.

Hi Mysteria, thanks for the welcome! Glad you like my poem and my pics. But I have to disappoint you, I've never sold anything through deviantArt, so you must have followed someone else there. my devArt username is mainbearing.

Wow, I now have 4 registered users at my e-card gallery, I'd better upload some new pics!
