Little Angelo’s sitting in front of the boob tube. He sees a nature program featuring flower arrangements. He has no idea what they are. “Yo Dad, what are those things?” “They’re flowers son, some people swear by them, think they’re beautiful.” “Do you think they’re beautiful Dad?” “Nah, I don’t. If you want to see something beautiful, just look in a mirror.” “Thanks Dad.” Bobby |

A touching father/son moment, that will most likely stay with him for the rest of his life. He knew he was loved ~ and was precious in the eyes of his Dad. Linda |

Dear Linda, Thanks for the kind words on this one. You know how it is. Some people are flower people, while others are people-people. Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (05-25-2008 08:34 PM).] |

Though I agree with you that the beauty of a child/human being is unsurpassed in its wonderful complexity and the soul/body combination, I still think it is somehow disquieting that you can't see the beauty of flowers. They are part of creation and a magnificent pleasure to the eye, a heavenly gift. Dear Bobby, I do hope you will learn to appreciate the immense variety and beauty of flowers. And I do hope that your Angelo learned to love flowers too ... Love, Margherita |

Dear Margherita, Sorry Hon, I remain very much a humanist. As far as my Angelo goes, he's a humanist too, and a math professor in the big apple, i. e. New York City. From past experience, I don't like anything having to do with gardens. Love Bobby |

In no way can I understand the aversion to flowers but I certainly understand the love of people and especially sons. Love, Joyce |

Thanks dear Joyce, I consider flowers as an unnecessary result of garden work. I like vegetables, but I've also had bad experiences with forced garden work, that I can never forget. I avoid garden work. Just color me strange. Love Bobby |

I enjoy people and flowers. I think both have their place in our world. Things of beauty and a human capacity for enjoying beauty. ...perfect. Ida |

I think that all living things have a soul--- essence, but the human soul is transcendent, it perceives the beauty of flowers and gives them meaning. I really love how this poem works, to see the inner flowers of one's true self worth! Art |

Art, I'm pleased this poem worked for you. In my uninformed opinion, only the human animal has a soul. Bobby |

After my father died, Bobby, I wrote a poem---"Despair in a Flower Boutique". It is strange how beauty can convey so many meanings for each individual. Art |

Art, Felix (me) only knows flowers from funerals. I send flowers to funerals. In my opinion, the only true physical and spiritual beauty is in the human animal. I suppose I’m too old to change my basic conceptions on important matters. Im a city person. The only flowers we have here that I care about, are human. Bobby |
