My poem was deleated I really meant no harm It must have upset someone And caused some great alarm It delt with a true story That happened at a school There was a lot of violence Bullets were the tool A young man was so very sick He hurt a lot of people But what he did is part of life Sometimes life is evil I tried to get inside his head And illustrate his pain The poem was a good one But it was not sweet and tame When artistic freedom is suppressed It is not a happy thing It's like taking a little bird And cutting off his wing There are many sides of life All valid in the art Poetry should explore Each and every part To understand humanity We must see every side When an art is censored We are being taken for a ride To be a complete person You have to hear the truth Not just creme and roses But things like ripping out a tooth When people cannot read about All parts of the mind The end result is thought control Your freedom they do bind |

yes, but did you read the guidelines you agreed to, when joining pip? Just because it really happened doesn't make it ok for all eyes. Read the guidelines. If you don't know if it can be posted, ask a moderator to read it first. Just because you think it should be posted, doesn't make it ok. Again please, read the guidelines! That is the most common mistake new members make, they don't take the guidelines seriously and think they should be able to post whatever they want. The reality of that is, this web site is owned by Ron and he wants it a certain way, that is why there are guidelines to begin with. ![]() |

Hello, I understand what you are saying and you have a right to your feelings. ok...yes...here comes the but...lol. This site is a family site. Some work is not appropriate for young eyes. There are forums here that you can post more adult material. If the poem is still deemed inappropriate...you have the option of posting it on your own web site where anyone can read or another poetry site that allows anything to be posted. We do agree to a code of conduct when we sign up to this web site. It was put in place so that we could express ourselves with out running into offensive material and replies. There are many poetry sites on the web and many of them let you post anything you wish. Many of us here have been part of those in the past and we are at PIP BECAUSE of the guidelines sent out by Ron. In my opinion, this is the greatest poetry site on the web. Marilyn |

Well Ok....But I am at a loss as to why there is an adult section on the site if it is a family site. This makes sure that kids do not read the material. I can certainly understand being concerned with "encouraging violence". But to illustrate what a violent person was thinking is not encouraging. But I do like the forum and will try to comply with the rules. Even though those rules are suppressive of artistic expression. I just think that if one is advcating the arts it must be all of the art. I would submit that there needs to be a special section for such material where children's eyes do not go. I simply thought that there would be no problem posting in the over 18 section. I certainly respect the owners right to control their own forum. All I am doing is pointing out whart I perceive as a artistically detramental use of the right. |

Yo Lobsang, If you really work at it, you can still sneak the truth in on this site. Bobby |

There are other sites that allow you to write pretty much what you like (of course you also have to wade though a lot of garbage on some of these sites.) Perhaps you should try Americam Poems for your more adult subjects. Just a sugestion. Ida |

I certainly respect the owners right to control their own forum. Good. That's all that needs to be said. There are other forums here where you can give opinions, make suggestions or challenge the rules (good luck with that one), I suggest you try them....actually, I suggest you don't try them and just be part of the site with you poetry and friendship, but if you feel that it is fine for a new member to come in and show dissent against the rules he agreed to follow, then use one of the appropriate forums, please. |
