As the Hand of Time slowly paints a crease Upon a brow, the vim of youth retreats And the eddying breath seeks a renewed lease -- The Time in this the will of Man defeats. Will thine eye be drawn to a sight more fair? Will that joy-song that sings within thy heart Then sing its love to one of new compare? If thus it be, in that we drift apart... But none can halt what cannot held be still -- Though try we may with mirrors false reveal To paint this borrowed pot of clay by will -- Such mask shall not the truth within conceal: But if thy love is true to heart and mind, The Art of Time I greet and pleasant find.
