. This must be How God feels . . . After a certain age Now it is late November The forest is deeply white Yet there are still A few orange sprays Of autumn leaves Remaining on the trees A narrow bridge Over a shallow river Whose water not yet frozen Under winter’s shadow Slowly flows With a fire in the hearth The rooms in the cabin Are comfortably warm The air is calm I am alone The years go by And seasons change The essentials of being Remain the same Meanwhile Through a window As I watch outside New snow is falling . John, This has a wistful timelessness about it--very good work. Time marches on. Bobby |

a fine 'write!'... I am especially fond of: "The years go by And seasons change The essentials of being Remain the same" Applause for this 'penning!' |

Well done. And I agree "The years go by And seasons change The essentials of being Remain the same" this might well be how God feels. Everything only cycles never truly changes. sharyn "God made you as you are |

Excellent write, John. The feeling of sadness and longing just adds to the beauty of this poem. Ida |

Love it! I have only seen and been in snow once and that was just a very light and unexpected snowfall as we were travelling through and when I was 19 - am now 62 - granted we got out of the car to have a snow fight - but, although I don't know snow country, I did while I read your poem and it cast a spell upon me. - Owl |

john, i can understand...the fire in the hearth, the warm rooms, a window and a new snow fall...for me there was only one major item missing. that one item was my hunting partner...my dog. as long as i had my dog, i was never lonely. |
