A crooked finger Curled my air behind my ear Over and over until The sooth lulled me to peace A lilting operatic voice hummed In fragrant melody Making me long To climb inside the song The consumate rebel She wore pants against the tide Because it was cold She wasn't feeling well Dresses chilling to the bone Agreeing to go home But inevitably helping form A changing policy for us all Saran wrap dried in the dish tray Reuseable several times Paper bags for bookcovers And handmade clothes Adorned my wardrobe A single, working mother Always with us Inspirational to the core We had ducks in the city 'Harvy', 'Brandy' and 'Singapore Sling' Quacking and swimming In our kiddie pool in the yard We never went with nothing The house renovated From a shack Into a palace of mirrors Tile floors she laid herself This is my mother But you'll never know her well For she is hidden in our memories And private of her soul A sparkling, glittering gem Of value beyond belief She lives the life of gypsies A lady you can't ignore She is young beneath her years E-Baying around the globe Hitting garage sales, Antique shops and traveling But the ocean is her home Friends wished she could be their mother But I share her with only one A sister who's just as awesome |

Thank you so much, and please give your mother our regards on this, and every day! Karilea |
