Unfortunately for Wawa,
his dad was quite the mean drinker.

It always made Felix see
the bright side,
of his own dad
not being around.

Every Friday night,
Wawa, Butch, and Felix
would go down to the bar,
and talk Wawa’s dad
into coming home,
before he started to get into fights,
and tear the place up.

They did this at nine o’clock,
every Friday night,
while Wawa’s dad was still
fairly pleasant.

They wanted to get him home,
before he became a danger
to Wawa, and his mom.

The three boys
were an overpowering presence
in the bar.

The seas seemed to part for them.

Being rather sacrilegious,
Wawa’s dad would shout—

“Sinner repent,
will you pass down
the primrose path
to the eternal fires?”

Wawa’s dad seemed to sense,
he was doing something wrong.

Butch and Felix stayed around
at Wawa’s place,
until his dad got tired,
and went to bed.

Thanks dear Tammy,

Yes they are good friends.

Growing-up, there were four of us.  We were really more than family.

We lost one to a heart attack about ten years ago.  I still think of him.

Thanks dear RDB,

As you know, here in the hood friends are very important.  Sometimes friends are the only real family kids have.

I have no feeling against drinking, the story is that they spill over others their drunkness and people who drink can represent a danger...Otherwise I like drinking a glass of wine from time to time...

How well I remember and appreciate good friends in my youth, many of whom are still here with me enjoying life!

Thanks Yann,

I drink too, but I don't make an ass of myself like Wawa's and my dad used to.
