Of the Poets who chose Death It chills me . . . What did they see in the darkness, The abyss? Did something catch their eye And, speaking in a language never before Fallen upon the ear, whisper Something out of the darkness that the heart, The mind, and soul could not bear? Did they hear a pronouncement of destiny--- A Dark and Godless judgment? Or did they boldly, defiantly leap into a bottomless pit, in search of an other self? It chills me . . . |

I am in the habit of asking questions I can't answer, and perhaps can never be answered. I am told this is something poets are inclined to do. I was reading, John Berryman, when I felt compelled to write this. Art [This message has been edited by gilead (04-28-2008 11:52 AM).] |

Art, Don’t be chilled. The moral jury is out on suicide. This poem is well done. Bobby |

I prefer this explanation "Or did they boldly, defiantly leap into a bottomless pit, in search of an other self?" Thank you for the pleasure of reading this.sharyn |
