For a friend of mine who i never noticed always said, "take it easy", "later" and "peace" when he left and i never noticed until i actually heard him tell me goodbye one day. I havent talked to him since

Goodbye.

You never once said goodbye,
‘Till that final farewell
When I didn’t even get
To see a final smile.
I knew your words
Though a lie
Would hold true
That this was good bye.

I never noticed,
Took for granted for long
That when we parted
You never once told me "bye"
So your words pierce my heart
Yet I admire your courage
That you forced yourself
To say your goodbye.

AAB,

This is coming right along.  I think you perhaps mean “took for granted”.

Keep up the good work.

Yes it does often take courage to finally say Goodbye.  Keep writing.  Enjoyed it.

A final goodbye… Sad and heart-felt.
