Dad is mad,
Better stay out of his way.
He has a tendency to throw things
when he is angry.
Children are always learning.
I am the best dodge ball player
in my class,
maybe in the whole school.

Ida,

Now you see that.  There is something to be learned in every human encounter.  At least he wasn’t throwing the kids.  I have a brother-in-law who throws things.  It’s not a good thing to do.

this is a very well done poem, I like it.

Ida, this makes me sad… It also tells how children will take what is given to them and try to make the best of it.

This is an excellent write.

Thank you both for your interest and your nice comments. It's funny the things we remember just out of the blue.

It's a sad state of affairs when people have to resort to throwing things to

alleviate their anger. It doesn't do anyone any good but I'm afraid that is the way of

the world. great write Ida.

my father does not throw things but he was a heavy smoker. So, I was the second-hand smoker.

Thank you for your comments. My father had a pretty nasty temper but he wasn't a completely bad person. He just lived what he had learned from a hard life.

Dear Ida, what an unfortunate way for you to have excelled at dodge ball.

Your plight is simply stated ~ however it was very effective in conveying your under-lying emotions.

Your positive attitude is like the proverbial silver lining to the dark cloud. I can well-imagine you being the best little dodge-baller in your school!

Loving hug,
Linda

Ida,

I know what you mean, my father was not a bad man either - he was mentally ill.  My writing reflects the good and the bad parts of him.

Thank you for sharing your memories.
