These things now touched
By indifferent hands
Sit out of context
On and under
Long folding tables

Like shocked survivors
Of some unexpected disaster
They await a future
Bereft before of what and who
Made it all worthwhile

Now some are chosen
By other would be owners
While many once cherished
Are left behind

For when morning comes
Bringing men in uniforms  
To take them far from home

The saddest thing in the world is to have to sort through the once cherished belongings of someone who is deceased. This
touching observation reminded me of that sad duty.
