The Sy of Goodbye
By Larry Chadwick
I'll always adore you

My heart resists the Sy of goodbye,
Wishing the need were not real.
Knowing it would come some day,
Denying how that day would feel.

But now the time is here,
And my heart longs to Sy.
Accepting the truth of loss,
My mind forcing me to try.

Then words and images arise,
Isabel’s love and rhyme well written,
And the things that Sy would try,
For the girl by whom he was smitten.

As I pause to reassess it is then
I detect a smile in my tears.
Faithful was the gentle man,
Who loved his wife all these years.

And so I accept the Sy of goodbye,
It came so easy just using the Sy of try.

January 26, 2008

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry ~ you sy, I sy, we all sigh for the Sy Guy.

I have a knowing that he is enjoying these poetic outpourings of love. Even our Sy Guy is sighing.

I can sense the love ~ and the loss ~ in your heartfelt words.

Love & Everlasting Life,

Linda

I loved your title Larry ... right through to the tender thoughts within the poem.

Sy was a dear man, and we will miss him greatly.

Best wishes and big hugs,

Larry,

You've encompassed the poet
who wrote both for men
and women
in one fell swoop.

I cannot think of a poet here
who hasn't been touched
by our Sy.

Thank you, m'friend.

Larry darling man, you Sy so beautifully. As always you know exactly how to write the feelings of my tears, YOU too are one of the few.

Typing is not easy these days, increasingly I am having to use voice recognition software which doesn't recognise very much. However Sy is worth the pain of typing, and so are you darling man.

I vist sometimes, and wander the halls of recall, in the archives, and remember the friends I have still who walk these halls of wonder.

Love and warm stuff
as always

When I got off work and realized that I missed your call I came here to see if I had missed something. And now, I will continue to miss something... to miss him.

This was a beautiful tribute to a kind man who touched all of us.

- I think we all need as many as we can get right now. God bless you.

"My heart resists the Sy of goodbye"

I didn't have the opportunity to meet him, but he planted sounds, thoughts, and music in my head, making me a better person in the time I spent lingering on his words.

You expressed the Sy of Goodbye so well, Larry.  Thank you.
