Ten-year-old Felix is in the hospital charity ward, to get his tonsils out. He’s been told that he’ll get ice cream when the surgery’s over— He’s interested. At the same time his mother is approached by the hospital staff. One of their doctors is doing research on how broken limbs heal in young children. All she has to do is give her permission for Felix’s leg to be broken, and put in a cast. There’s $500.00 in it for Felix’s mother. Of course she gives her okay, signs off on the papers. It’s for the good of science. It’s a painful experience for Felix. He doesn’t understand any of it. Bobby |

Thanks JJ, Yes it was. Felix found it rather annoying. Thanks for reading, and the kind comment. Bobby |

I got my tonsils out when I was 10 too Bobby... and I loved the ice cream! Thank goodness I didn't need to have any limbs broken while I was there! Felix has had to endure so much in his young life... love RDB Be kind at heart....for everyone you meet has their own battle to fight......... |

Dear RDB, Well, you know how it is Hon. Mom had to keep food on the table. She does it anyway she can. Thanks for your concern for Felix. Love Felix, Mom, and Bobby |

Bobby, this is really almost too much to bear. I think I'd rather have broken the limbs of that horrible doctor asking such a thing!! To exercise Christian love sometimes is really difficult!! And now there are those who hunt "ninos de rua" to take their organs for transplant!! It's a most horrible practice. We must love this world into change!!!!!!!! Love, Margherita |

Margherita, Street children such as Felix, and your "ninos de rua" are in constant danger throughout the world. Bobby |

Yann, This story is based on the URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5907667/ and on a scandal from the 60's in the Trenton, NJ area. Poor street children, such as Felix, are in constant danger of exploitation throughout the world. Bobby |

Dear LeeJ, Thanks for saying that Hon, I appreciate that. The life of any child is a sad one, no matter what. Bobby |

Bob, all broken limbs heal eventually, it is the damage done to the minds of exploited children that rarely if ever, get mended... John |

Thanks John, I think that must be true. There is always a lingering bitterness. My wife who was badly exploited as a child has describred childhood. "You're always someone's slave, or their toy." Sad, indeed. Bobby |

There is not enough money, nor could I be starved enough to make me hurt or allow someone else to hurt one of my boys... And yet there are mothers who would and do... Sometimes this world makes me sick! Tammy<333 |

This is sad but despite what you say it is not the norm to be treated this way. My folks would have laid down their lives for their children as I would have for mine. I choose to believe that we were the norm. The sooner all parents have to pass a parent test to have children, the better. Joyce |

Tammy<333, I have too many faults of my own to point a finger at Felix's Mom. He wouldn't want me too. Felix says: "Leave my Mom alone." You know how he is. Bobby |

Joyce, We don't now, and I hope we never do, live in a cloned society. All mothers are different. You have to play the hand you're dealt. Bobby |
