High thin clouds, a veil. The moon’s there, A hazy silver-gold, No stars, though, Just the foggy dome Of the big, desert sky, A fog made of dust And garish light, And I’m out tonight With one silver dollar— The moon Burning a hole in my pocket. Will it be the certitude Of one last beer, Or one more chance At chance . . . |

I've lived here fifty years, and I quickly learned to opt for the beer! Art |

You describe Las Vegas very well. Now, that "other Ida" we both know all too well just has to say, Las Vegas is a nice place to visit every couple of years. (preferably in winter) Ida |

Winter is, indeed, rather mild here, but I'm gearing up for the searing days of summer, when temperatures are still in the upper nineties at 4:00 AM! Art [This message has been edited by gilead (04-11-2008 04:49 PM).] |

Lots of Hawaiians like to get away to Vegas...glad to hear you can still buy a beer for a dollar...James |

your poem had a beautiful descriptive quality. I enjoyed the imagery you used and your line structure. |
