Everywhere people learn how to cook or play tennis or practice violin…. People learn English Religion or gardening, they like to learn as to perfect themselves, So why wouldn’t there be someday schools for learning compassion. |

Beautiful reflections, dear Yann! Yes, no doubt we can learn almost everything and yet not be aware of the heart's motion, when it invites us to be compassionate. We have been given many means to learn compassion, it's a primary task of the educators, parents and teachers. Yet, if we don't live it ourselves, how can the new generations learn it from us? We have become indifferent to almost anything. Children die of hunger and we look the other way .... To listen to our innermost heart whispers should be taught, yes. By studying the ethics and moral values we also should be induced to be compassionate. Appreciated your ponderings. Love, Margherita |

Very right. Compassion should be in our nature but we bury it with earth. or mainstream thinking. We do need to re-learn it. Enjoyed your poem. |

Yann, having visited many of the Greek islands, one of the things that struck me about the people was their attitude to compassion etc. They call it Ethos, shame there is not more of it about. I try to teach my daughter the value of compassion & morals. I am happy to say that all the school teachers & church folk tell me what a polite, pleasant helpful child she is. I tell her this & it makes us both happy...nice writing, John |

I think compassion is gained in two ways mainly...birth and pain. If you're not born with it, pain in it's many forms is an extraordinary teacher. Either way the heart has to be willing or it's all for naught. jimmy |

Yann, Jwesley's hit the nail on the head. You've got to be there. A child is born with it. Bobby |

Compassion, I think, comes from living life and loving others with an open mind. It would be nice if it could be taught, but schools still struggle with the ABC's. Thank you very much for writing and sharing sharyn |
