Cheerful noises rise high in pale dawn saffron skies. Ebony night yawns, slips away as morning rush hour finds a mixed multitude of anxious song birds vying for position at the backyard feeder, seeking their fill before raucous pushy starlings awaken and confiscate all the best perches. City birders awaken to the symphony of nature the same as country folk, when chickadees and sparrows, robins and finches are invited to dine at backyard feeding stations. It’s an acceptable compromise, a way to heal psyches bombarded by too much electronic technology, plastic, asphalt and cement. |

quote: Wonderful, dear Kacy! You have a special bond with these bringers of joy I see. I so love to wake up hearing the symphony ... mostly blackbirds here. (I dialogue with them !) Thank you for this immersion in morning music. Love, Margherita |

a fine Spring morning 'write!'... I am especially fond of the beginning: "Cheerful noises rise high in pale dawn saffron skies. Ebony night yawns, slips away as morning rush hour finds a mixed multitude of anxious song birds vying for position at the backyard feeder..." applause!! |

Lovely, Kacy. I love birds and would love to feed them but I have 6 cats and the neighbors have cats too. Most people around here have cats to keep the fruit rats away since almost everyone has orange, lemon, and avacado trees etc. Ida [This message has been edited by Marchmadness (04-04-2008 08:35 AM).] |

Midnitesun, The interaction of city people with birds is interesting. I have a neighbor who feeds the birds with bread crusts every morning. He's a nice guy, and always has a treat for my dog in the morning when she takes me for my walk. Myself, I must admit, I don't care about birds, and always try not to park the car under telephone and electric utility wires. Bobby |

Very nice! I watched an eagle fishing the other day on the edge of a dammed, and thus drowned, swamp. Nature has its ways of adapting and of exercising patience with humans and all our foolish ways. |

Midnitesun - hopefully technology will never replace Nature's live concert...for that would be a loss unrecoverable... CG |
