Doubly Distant |

A slipper lay before me upon that grass fed knoll. It captivated and floored me this shoe did take it’s toll. I looked o’er the meadow and swam across the brook. I followed my only shadow through each cranny and crook. I cried to hear a calling of one that I might see. Oh love, thy love is trying to keep and capture me. The darkness soon will swallow and lead me blindly away. I’ll cross that lonesome hollow where elves once came to play. But now they are so silent and grasses now lie gray for love is doubly distant and a slipper hobbled away. |
