The parenthetical title is there because I realized that the date of my initial post was 2.1.05--twenty six days before the death of my sister, Cathy, and also prior to the destruction wrought by hurricane Katrina)

* * *

some thing I just can't think about -
me -
who cannot seem to cease
the thinks
from standing there in line
to board the rollercoaster me
as the cart screams dangerous
in the curve ahead
I plead:
"plant your feet and pray"
for we
are riding on one rail.

some things I dare not think about -
me -
who never ceases dream
the brink
of all raw edge despair
tightening elastic string
calculating height and mass
devil-wing the depth
I weep:
"loose your feet and pray"
for we
have left no room to fail.

something    I won't care about -
me -
who cannot stop the tears
I blink
the waters of the tide
behind the levee of my lids
sandbag of the scars
I sigh:
"take a chance and pray"
for we
don't have much else to do.

You'd be the one I wanted to hear from...

I miss you Ed. If ever find my own muse again, I'd love to write a duet with you again. I need a re-baptism.

I love you.

I was really glad to open PiP and see that you had returned to post a poem.  I have missed you - weird, huh.

Anyway, my first thought was what a helluva a lot for any one person to go through - the death of a sibling and then Katrina.  Some times, life's tests just seem too unfair to even try to comprehend.

Next, I read your poem and thought how much it touched me - and I was glad that you had prefaced it.  I think prefaces can often be obstacles, but this time, I thought it allowed me to read with the understanding that your poetry deserves.

Finally, I was touched by these lines .. the weird lines?  Nothing seems "weird" to me about this poem -- your poetry saw before the rest of the world did.

something    I won't care about -
me -
who cannot stop the tears
I blink
the waters of the tide
behind the levee of my lids
sandbag of the scars
I sigh:
"take a chance and pray"
for we
don't have much else to do.

You leave me speechless with those words.

Alison--you have been leaving ME speechless--with the quality and the quality of your work.

And yanno? I...I dunno. Thanks for you sensitivity here, but I think I should point out that I went through none of it alone. I had a lot of help.

thank you lovie, now that mercury has gone direct, I may end my vow of silence. And hopefully find some new writing material too.

And for the record, I'm blaming the last seven years of my life on a crummy Saturn return!

love ya talented one!

and awwwwwwwwww....Edder! smile

thanks lovie. I'm okay. nod

(I think.)

smile

your talent screams to be read
you make me sit on the edge of my seat
with the hair on my neck standing up
you are an echo of ripples on waters skin
lost your muse?
Clearly I doubt that
for how can breath be gone
as long as the breeze still flows

loved you then
love you now

it doesn't surprise me a bit.

the words speak loudly what was, what is a and what will be.

I listen.

and when you need me, I am here.

I love you muchly.

Not weird at all Karen~~

so this is the reason for the last 7 years?

"I'm blaming the last seven years of my life on a crummy Saturn return! "

~sigh~
No need to repeat, but I will anyway:
your heart always beats a loud true drum,
one which echoes my often-silent psyche.

Thanks all. You all have been so patient with me, and I really hope this didn't come off as even MORE hand-wringing.

I just looked back, and thought it was..weird. (Much of my poetry during that time had a theme of levee's breaking, so I was like, wow.)

I'm doing much better than I was, too.

And I continually grateful for this network of emotional support.

Maybe I should try writing something a little happier.

thanks again

Dear Karen, me too I am happy that you post again!

And I am in awe of this high level poem, which must have reached the divine listeners for its intensity and its beauty ... hovering above the sighs/prayers.

Some well aligned planets are there too, see what you have created.

Love and peace.
Margherita
