For my sweet Dixie Doodle... was digging in the attic here at PIP and found a good oldie, and it made me think of you Shards of glass under feet of things I could never be it don't do nothing but rain under the weight of the broken-clouded dreams Drenched and drowning yet I look down at feet bleeding yesterday unable to move - forward or back, does it matter? Shadows of never beens I can see better than the real faces staring back at me - pleading for me to change my ways, or words neither which I care to do, if only to conform or seem pretty and ladylike to those that know nothing about the woman, or girl that walks on glass just to feel something real, even be it painful, deep screams that no one can hear that's okay with me I always suffered best in silence that only I could hear I always wanted to burn my bra yet, the best I could do was burn bridges leaving gaps between myself and home - so I will just do what I have always done- walk back the hard way through the brambles and mire that lie ahead it won't be pretty and I'm gonna be dirty and not lookin' like a lady when I show up at your door - with bleeding feet, and a bleeding heart will you take me back after all of this? will you still want to know this less than a lady? Tell me now 'cause if not - I'll just take the easy road, and save us both the trouble. Sometimes, it just isn't worth it to chew through the restraints.... |
