Between the Lines

When day turns to night
and empty fills the air
the mind says good bye
to the hope and the care
of the innocence of need
and the whispers once true...
only shadows remain
playing "Misty" for you.

Been too long since the day
when reflections were strong
when fantasies turned real
and love need not long
for the nearness of you
in the silence of morn...
yet those lingering desires
in memories adorn.

How to unchain the fading
steal back feelings old
when the playground of life
drew love in its hold
when mornings were filled
with the essence of night
tweaking the spirit
with the heart taking flight..

Those were the days to remember
to be able to feel
What was  once before
can become again real.

Oh how charming, dear Maureen! And yes the reality of now has surprises in store, no doubt.

Truly beautiful write!

Love and hugs.

Wish I knew the answer to that.  Maybe we just need to want it enough and be certain that we can have it.  Oh, but then that old thing of "for the good of all" comes in and we are at its behest.

very effective, emotive 'write!'

I am especially fond of:

"the mind says good bye
to the hope and the care
of the innocence of need
and the whispers once true...
only shadows remain
playing "Misty" for you."

wish I had better 'answers' to the many 'questions' (explicit and implicit) in this 'penning!'

Applause!

Such a soft and gentle feel this has...

Just lovely, Maureen...
