Beneath The Magnolia Tree On a rock, she sits, by the rolling sea, beneath the blossoms of a magnolia tree. Weeping for a love that is no more, since her lover sailed to distant shore Empty, she feels, for her heart did break, --Alone and sad with her love ache. Driftwood rolls in to the rocky shore, as she mourns his loss to senseless war Tears fall freely down her forlorn face. --There is no cure for the empty space. She stood and faced the vacant sea, and plucked last petal from magnolia tree ARCTIC WIND |

Poignant imagery, having her plucking the last petal was the perfect ending. |

I agree with Midnitesun. Really poignant & I love how so much is left unsaid so that we can fill in... |

Enjoyed this Arctic Wind even though it is a sad reminder that loved ones are being lost all the time to senseless war. Helen |

I would love to see this poem in the form of a Pantoum. It would be singularly lovely...as it is now, but in the beginning, that is how I recognized it... Thank you for this, m'friend. |

This is so pretty. I have a Japanese Magnolia in my yard just like your photo. I'm thinking of digging it up and taking it with me when I move. Their flowers smell soooo good. |
