. Pass the parcel Cross fingers for luck When the music stops Who'll be left holding the buck? If it's not you Then I guess maybe It will be me That's left holding the baby Even if I had freedom of choice And could take first pick I'm willing to bet that I would select The dirtiest end of the stick I know what I'm saying I've seen it all before It's what's commonly know As Murphy's law It has been applied to me For most of my life Usually when it is my turn To roll the dice Then that Old Devil fate Plays tricks on me For when I need a Double Six I land a double Three.... . "Ignorance is the Enemy...." |

Unfortunately, I am well-acquainted with Murphy's Law! It has raised its ugly head many a time in my life. The only way that I have been able to get out of that cycle, is by thinking positively ~ even when the negative keeps coming! Eventually, Murphy's Law becomes a thing of the past. I believe that this is the first poem that I have ever read on the topic. For those not familiar with this law, I got the following from Wikipedia: "Murphy's law is an adage in Western culture that broadly states that things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance. "If there's more than one possible outcome of a job or task, and one of those outcomes will result in disaster or an undesirable consequence, then somebody will do it that way." It is most often cited as "Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong" (or, alternately, "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way" or, "Anything that can go wrong, will," or "If anything can go wrong, it will, and usually at the most inopportune moment"). The saying is sometimes referred to as Sod's law or Finagle's law which can also be rendered as "Anything that can go wrong, will—at the worst possible moment". You did 'Murphy' proud with this write, Dear John! (((hugs))) Linda |

Had been a little over a week since I saw my latest grandbaby so you know I was really up for the visit...until the little too-too yucked all over me moments after taking him from my daughter - sour-milk and all. So I gave him back to her, cleaned up, changed shirts took him again -- yep! A second time! Murphy was in fine form this past Saturday! Still loved him though and the third time Murphy had moved on to less expecting people...(I had on a beach towel!!) Enjoyed your piece, my friend. jimmy |

It happens because you expect it to happen. We have an enormous power of mind, so we better pay great attention to our thoughts. Is there an antidote to Murphy's law? Yes, forget it and write John's law which would be the opposite then ... try! This was very interesting, dear John! Love, Margherita |

John, I don't believe in Murphy's Law. I can help you with dice though. The secret is--well--cheating, and speed. The hand is quicker than the eye. Start slow, and pick-up speed as you go. Speed, and cheating will also help you with Murphy's Law. This is a good write, that I enjoyed a lot. Bobby |

I really think Murphy's Law is in the mind, if you think something is going to go wrong it often does. I always look on the bright side and think, ( 'She'll Be Right) and most times it is. be positive John and may good luck go with you. Lindsay |

LadyTom, Thank you, you know when the bread falls to the floor it always lands butter side down….. Sunshine to you & me both….no surprise there then ! EA, over here they have an alternative to Guinness called Murphy’s, seriously…being 50% Irish meself ( To be sure, to be sure…) I cannot figure out why I like neither, tastes like Broccoli if you ask me….. JW, Oh my word, I can just picture that! Murphy strikes again… thanks for the reply Margherita, So if I do the Lotto & expect to lose I’m going to win? Don’t tell Linda.. John’s Law…I like the sound of that. My word is law & I have Margheritas permission to say so…..Bella! Bobby,Thanks mate! I know the hand is quicker than the eye, comes from getting punched in the head so often!! ( That was a joke LadyTom) Lindsay, G’Day Cobber…I’d go along with that, except I’m positive it would go wrong Hope….maybe that’s what I need instead of luck…Thanks! Alison, I am real happy to make you smile on a daily basis. That makes 2 of us, in fact I make myself laugh so much I have to shave with my eyes shut…….It’s good to be here, thanks for having me, John Key Lime, I gotta start using loaded dice….
