If I close my heart, never love again,
what of the loving memories still there?
Then could I vow to never gaze within?

To douse the flame before it can begin,
then would my heart be better in such care?

When I'm feeling this way I always re-read this
from a favorite book called Simple Pleasures
by Kent Nerburn:
"Love has it's own time,
it's own season,
and it's own reasons
for coming and going.

If it chooses to leave,

or the heart of a lover,

and it reminds me that if we close our hearts to love we may never come to know it's true power.

I think that if you are one of the heart, it is impossible to close it although as time goes on we perhaps become more discerning as to whom we let it. Enjoyed your thoughts and the reply by GS is so meaningful.
