Fair Rose, the pass of time doth touch us all, With gray of hair and loss of youth's fair skin, But you my love, your beauty does enthrall Me more each day, for what was our begin, Was but a sketch, an outline of your grace, Which fills each day, each year a rainbowed hue Of memories, each one on thee doth trace, a painting fresh, you start each day anew Fair Rose, you are as is the beautous vase, Just sitting there in simple grace, with nicks From time's onslaught, that cover not its face, Hide not of gentle curves, doth still transfix. Fair Rose, the pass of time I do not see For like a vase, you ever sit in beauty. Connie and I have made it thirty-six years. She says she might as well keep me, it would be too much work to break in another one. |
