That Horrible Terrible Thing

It is there,
that terrible thing,
carrying and edge
and cutting my thoughts like a killer.

It is still there,
that terrible thing,
pacing me, a breath on my neck,
a shadow with every move.

It is always there,
that horrible, terrible thing.
Wide eyed, I step backwards
through my life.
