Stiff fingered the trees shred remnants of cloud That in a slow reprieve of rain would find Their dark fecund bellies too heavy to rise Beyond the slopes of these steep sided hills So the grey remains collared to the sky And noon looks the same as did six When in a heavy sigh of drops there fell showers Not yet cold enough to turn to snow But lacking warmth to coax the early buds Into an pearly bloom Would that we lay side by side And stared from sheets of white at this day our eyes might leave the curves and hollows Formed when in a spoon of hip and back We whispered soft words And traced upon imperfect skin the dreams That comes from an arduous scrawl of verbs When acts of courage are revealed And enough is found to open Bare The heart to heal in small stitched seconds molding hours to face Marked by a slow procession of fingertips And sighs that soften the slap of rain On glass panes that now too Are cool And a slick wet of runnels Gathered by the wind then swept as part away To disappear And build again Shy murmured bits of poetry Chained long hand upon sparse white page May never be read aloud to caress the flesh As might not the brush of lips Still the page is bent and scrawled upon the space Are softer terms for love Than the storms that rage when alone It would seem an ordeal is all there is To everything When last I saw the sun It was a pale shadowed ghost shackled to the sky That with watery eyes promised these clouds to come And I wrote upon the back of mind how It might be come this day of early spring and rain Should my arm find itself draped Across the soft of you Palm cupping the curve as fingers In an absent trace colored more and in a backwards push you brought warmth against The want my face amidst a tangle of your hair Leaving the sigh of wind in bare trees the undertones Of soft voweled score To mid day nocturne Composed of notes that were but tender Exhales of this A grey and rainy day |

"nothing new"... Ok. A request to all readers of Cpat... read the poems in your own voice, give it measure and tone, and at times, a wry smile and treasure the tenor of the author. Sorry, m'friend...you haven't lost your touch. You just haven't touched enough. So, it is with a great amount of some glee that I read. Haven't responded to all, yet, but read them? Yep. |

A most powerful and lovely ‘write’ with wonderful imagery… I am particularly fond of: “scrawled upon the space Are softer terms for love Than the storms that rage when alone It would seem an ordeal is all there is To everything”; “When last I saw the sun It was a pale shadowed ghost shackled to the sky”; AND the grand-fine ending: “Leaving the sigh of wind in bare trees the undertones Of soft voweled score To mid day nocturne Composed of notes that were but tender Exhales of this A grey and rainy day(!)” serious, long-sustained applause!! |

this is such perfection, I don't have words enough, but I have a smile and a soft ache inside for rain like this... this is one to treasure... |

CPat~ 'When last I saw the sun It was a pale shadowed ghost shackled to the sky That with watery eyes promised these clouds to come And I wrote upon the back of mind how It might be come this day of early spring and rain Should my arm find itself draped Across the soft of you Palm cupping the curve as fingers In an absent trace colored more and in a backwards push you brought warmth against The want my face amidst a tangle of your hair' These thoughts are so lovely ... they demand a candle-lit read aloud~ Tonight, I will~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |
