You trail your fingers
through the river of my tears
sipping from them
like a fine wine you let
linger on your tongue

You catch one on the tip
of your calloused heart
watching it catch the dying
embers of your love
before letting it drop away

You erase them from your mind
like you would my reflection
in a pool sending out ripples
of pain and of fear
of despair

You trail your fingers
through the river of my tears
and walk away
you just walk away
