Lying there on the pavement
she heard voices all around
"She's not going to make it"
some people turned and frowned

Garbage all around her
as she tries not to cry
She heard the paramedic say,
"This girl is going to die"

I'm the the guy had to idea
while he was driving by
Because he chose to drink and drive,
she would have to die

So why do people do it,
knowing it ruins lives?
Her breath was slowly getting shorter,
she had to say good-bye

I've had my fair share of driving home from the bar and I can't tell you why...I guess it's a feeling of "no, that won't happen to me" or "I'm not that drunk, I can drive fine"

sad indeed that some people are terribly wrong

now though, I have given up those bars because I sure don't want to go to jail or kill someone, it's not worth it at all

We can't change the past but I'm so glad to hear that you are willing to change your future and maybe someone elses too.

Good poem. Drunk Driver shall stay in Jail for 20 years for killing innocent lives.

Thanx for your comments everyone. I have very strong feelings about drunk driving. Although, I don't have my drivers' yet, my mom is an alcoholic and this has been sort of a relation for me to write about it.
