Looking Back
By Paul Wilson

Forget the pain
it only last a little while
or so it seems

Days I can’t recall
lost  (I guess)
the reason buried
somewhere
within the graveyard
of  my soul

I can almost see
the vision of you
last remembered
within my minds eye
no need to try
your face a blur
snapshot of you
just a silhouette

The need to move on
finish this journey
without you is strong

The want to see you
still lingers on
( In my heart)
the pain keeps me
from crossing the line of doubt
separating you and I

We talk
But not like before
only enough to keep
the fire burning
and the pain
starts
all over again

Damn the heart
it never forgets
the love we shared
and the pain keeping us apart

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~
Paul

Again you touch my heart with your words of painful longing and I especially can relate to the above quoted part. It seems impossible to forget a beloved face, but strangely in certain moments we can't bring it into focus, we see them with our hearts only, which is no doubt still the best way to connect and see.

Very beautiful write, dear Paul. I reach out to you with a big tender hug.

It is that way, and unfortunately,  I guess
it will always be.  I know the feeling,  it
lives with me each day of my life.

Best to you Paul

Hi, Poet Paul. Your poetry never fails to touch me.

"Damn the heart
it never forgets
the love we shared
and the pain keeping us apart "

~ I, too, know of such pain ~ and only too well.

Love to you and an extra warm hug,

Linda
