Love is a painting - drawn with passioned art Upon the palette of the heart; each stroke With splash of rainbow hues will love impart And so enfold beneath its magic cloak. But Time with ruthless, phantom hand does wield Its dulling instrument! The hues once bright Thus fade, and vibrant blooms on summer field Do pale to monochrome in winter night. Yet the Painting, though it sheds its former sheen, Still steadfast on the wall of Time remains, And all the hearts its glory once have seen Have bound its image with eternal chains: Time, employ in vain your craft - if you must -- But Love once lived shall never turn to dust. CastleGuard, This is a fairly well done English sonnet. I'd try and do something with line five. Bobby |

Time, employ in vain your craft - if you must -- But Love once lived shall never turn to dust. How very beautiful and how true, I believe that too. ... love's echoes at least will never fade. love Margherita |
