Howard was numb, not dumb

she wasn’t a sweet girl to some

but to him she added the sum

of all his Auto Zone parts

but still his car wouldn’t start

not without her heart into it pumping her compassionate fluid through his veins?

                             [puts down the paper]

                                      tabloids

Howard thought

only writing for gain

didn’t Eve make it plain she enjoyed his company

                              [looked at his watch]

time to catch the plane

howard :

                        how much?

cashier :

                        two dollars

howard :

                        thanks

                                 [re-opens the paper]

                        will her forgiveness ever reach his brains?

                        these people …..

                        where do they get this stuff

                        i could raise a petition …

                        nah ……

                        it’d only serve as ignition

                               [picks up cell phone]

                       [after talking for a few minutes]

                       i agree Eve

                       we’ll keep the next edition

                                       to ourselves
