I have always been an insomniac chasing sleep through the dark corridors Of a chaotic mind as it gleefully dances just out of my reach, taunting me with the promise of sweet dreams and peaceful slumber. Ah, my kingdom.... (had I a kingdom) for a quiet mind, If only for one night. Not an eternity, mind you, Just a night now and then. Ida |

Oh, Ida, I do know what that can be like! Fortunately, I got so tired (lol) of being an insomniac that I quit! Seriously, I just said enough is enough. When I go to bed I now tell myself that all is well in my world and I am in my own sacred space of peace and tranquility. I also cut down on my tea consumption during the day, do not watch the news before going to bed, have a healthy bedtime snack with some protein, shortened my prayers to a couple of sentences, put my mind in a peaceful place, and refuse to pay any heed to any negative thoughts that may creep up on me. My bedroom window is open for fresh air ~ in all kinds of weather (except for violent thunderstorms). I may not sleep many hours but they are deep and replenishing. I wish this for you, as well, Dear Ida! May you sleep the sleep of an innocent babe! ![]() Loving hug, Linda |

Thank You, Linda. I'll try some of your methods (though I'm not nearly trusting enough to leave the window open) Did you ever hear of the night stalker? Ida |

Oh, I would never leave my window open if my bedroom was on the main floor! ![]() I hope some of my suggestions will help. Sweet dreams, Linda ![]() |

Right when I saw the title, I just jumped to it, only because I've experienced many sleepless nights. A well crafted poem. |

Dear Ida, you rendered your sleepness nights so well. I am sorry. I sleep almost always peacefully because I have learned to meditate, to calm down, but the main reason is that I fall to pieces, because I stretch my energies to the very maximum till my eyes close (which is probably wrong!) ... but I would not have the time to come on Pip so often, if I did not use the nightly hours ... ![]() Love and restoring nights! My good friend Ida, most sleep problems are caused by worry. Now I always look at things this way, if it ia something I can fix, then there is no need to worry. If it is something I can't fix then there is still no need to worry because worrying just will not help. So close your eyes and think about all the good things in your life and go to sleep. I'll say a prayer for you dear Ida and wish you all the best. Love Lindsay |

Thank you all for your comments. Lindsey, I think that in my case insomnia is not caused so much by worry rather a very restless mind and the pain of arthritis and fibromyalgia. Old age can be a gift in some respects, not so much in others.Thank you for always being there and commenting. Ida |

EXACTLY! [as a fellow 'insomniac' (with a mind that has no 'off switch') you are delimiting my 'life' here as well!] Applause for this 'write!' |
