Next to Last Day in December

Next to Last Day in December

Young ones and old folks stroll
past the fishermen stationed here,
and on this day you can see Catalina
while walking on the Seal Beach Pier.
Kites fly as high as the seagulls
while children frolic upon the shore
and surfers in wetsuits
ride the waves they adore.
If you walk to the end of the pier
you can buy sumatra coffee and
spend some reflective time here,
thinking of loved ones and the
approaching new year, upon this
next to last day in December,
two thousand and eight is so near.
