standing on a shadow's lace

Phoenix

I stand in the morning mirror
fogged in a hazed reflection
again I am on a new road
north south east west direction
re-invent myself once again
choosing another cross to bear
and I have been down on my knees
sometimes not always in prayer
foundation built on passion dreams
wildfires start within a flash
burning everything within its reach
leveling me to smoking ash
tears can heart heal the hurt
but nothing can stop a fire
today I grow new wings
this time
I will
fly
higher

"no darkness has ever been deep enough to extinguish my personal knowledge of love"  Anne Rice

So long as there is fuel and air, there will be fire.
Behind you all the way, Helen.

In some stories the phoenix is invincible when it is reborn.  I hope that's the case with your phoenix.

Excellent writing!

More than once I have had to rise up after making an ash of myself.

You are much more classy about it than I.
