   Chasing Melancholy

Where all time-singed
dreams and promises
lie forgotten…
like faded flowers
in the final, fleeting
shaft of Winter
  sunlight,
or a wild Winter wind
taunts the thin-veiled moon,
in that thunderous quiet
just beyond midnight,
‘til one can no longer
hear the ‘music’ of life,
and nothing seems left
to truly cherish…
extinguish all lights
and let the sublimely
shimmering stars slip in,
for a vast-trembling universe
of infinite wonder and promise
lies beckoning…just beyond
the window’s empty mirror!

Being a predominantly melancholic nature myself, I understand what you express so masterfully here, dear Bruce.

Wow, but how beautiful "chasing melancholy" can be?!

In your language: applause!

Love,
Margherita

Beautiful, but I say don't chase it -- let it get away and just enjoy the perfection that nature showcases for us.

of infinite wonder and promise
lies beckoning…

... yes there, beyond the window,
the soul is free to travel,
there, where every sigh resonates
in the vastness and depth of universe ...

and the soul remembers
and longs to dance once more ...

...
had to come back for another read, dear Bruce.
This is one of my very favorite of yours.

Love,

We all think of the wonder and promise beyond the 'window's empty mirror" The rest of us just can't express these feelings as well as you do, Bruce.

Jan 1
You have an empty vessel with no thing
Jan 4
You have an empty mirror with no scene

ah, my dear poet Bruce
Are you living in the memory of last spring
but why not hope for the new one in coming?!

Beautiful poem but toooo very much sad for the beginning  of a new year.

So wish you a very happy New Year again, sir Bruce!!
